Shortly before the election in the USA, President Donald Trump and his Democratic challenger Joe Biden went on the final offensive in the election campaign – including mutual attacks. Biden tried to score with the Obama factor before the vote tomorrow: He appeared twice on Saturday with the former president in the particularly contested state of Michigan. Trump spoke four times to supporters in Pennsylvania, another important “swing state”, Biden followed the day after. For Trump, Michigan, Iowa, North Carolina, Georgia and Florida were five campaign appearances in one day.

The Republican incumbent continued to trail Biden in new polls both nationwide and in several potentially crucial states. His re-election is not ruled out, however, especially since the electoral system allows the candidate with the most votes to lose. Both sides have declared this year’s vote a fateful one and are warning with gloomy scenarios against the respective opponent as future president. Tens of millions of Americans have already voted and cast their votes by letter or at the polling station.
Before their appearances Trump and Biden attacked each other on Twitter. Biden wrote: “I promise you this: I will end the chaos of Donald Trump and this crisis.” Trump accused Biden of wanting to subject the USA to a lockdown because of the coronavirus crisis “perhaps for years”. “Crazy. There will be no lockdowns. The great American comeback is underway!!”

Trump also shared a video on Twitter in which a campaign bus of his democratic challenger was almost rammed. “I LOVE TEXAS,” Trump commented on the short clip, which showed numerous cars and pickups chasing and crowding the bus on a highway between the Texas metropolises of San Antonio and Austin.
Biden employees reported in social media that the mini-trucks equipped with Trump flags overtook the bus and then tried to stop or push it off on the highway. According to media reports, the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) opened an investigation, and the Biden campaign cancelled several campaign events in Texas after the incident.
